ABC blanket

The perfect blanket for a teacher to give as a baby gift:

When my nephew arrived in the world (2 years ago Saturday!) and came home to his Classic Pooh nursery, I made a similar blanket with a Pooh face in the corners. Now he'll have a little brother in July and I wanted it to go with the theme of the room, so this one has a leaf from the 100 Acre Forest....

Once I learned to crochet I loved the ease of it. Quicker than knitting and easier to correct a mistake! Once my mom sent me the link to this pattern, it's all I make when I'm in the mood to craft and watch tv. All you do is SC (single crochet) and PS (puff stitch)--After making the blanket so many times, I rarely refer to the pattern. This is the 7th or 8th time I've made it....maybe more now that I think of it. The pattern is simple to follow, it's soft, kids love the texture aspect, I love the alphabet, and it's MACHINE WASHABLE! Get the pattern here. The finished size is said to be 35" by 42", but my stitches on this one must be extra's probably 45" by 52". They can cuddle for many years! If Melky lets me give it away....

  1. Your blanket turned out very nice! I like the alphabet theme to it too. Great color! :)

  2. The blanket is so beautiful... I haven't crocheted for years.. Looks like you just inspired me to make something, hopefully it is like riding a bike and it all comes back to you

  3. It's gorgeous!!....although I think Melky has already claimed it, LOL!

  4. Wow its gorgeous and I love your cat!!

  5. You did a wonderful job on this. It's a terrfic color and pattern. And you actually finished it before your nephew was born! That's a hug accomplishment in itself. I started a quilt for my niece before she was born. I don't think I've finished it yet. She turned 10 this year :-)

I really like both knitting and crocheting but I had to give them both up. Holding small objects like crochet needles makes my hands go to sleep while I'm working and creates pains up my arms later on. Bummer.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, they always make my day. I love to get feedback and would love to visit your blog too!
