A few things to share....

I really should be doing ANYTHING else right now. Like the dishes, or the bills, or putting the laundry in the dryer. Also planning for school. But I've missed the computer and there's no one home to bug me so I'm playing hookey from domestic duties, shhhhh, don't tell! On to all that I have to share

Did you know that Saturday is World Card Making Day? So cool, wish I had taken if off from work so I could just make cards all day. I'll have to settle for the second half. But stop by Unscripted Sketches at 8am for a fun blog hop for the big day! If you like cards and maybe a bit of candy you don't want to miss it. I'll be sure to share something ;-)

Saturday is also my best friend's 1 year anniversary. A few weeks ago I made a card for the occassion inspired by her invitations I made. I just realized I never shared it. Here is is and happy anniversary Laurie and Jeremy!

I can't even tell you how long it took us to figure out how to print in the info onto the vellum. (The leaf image is behind on the green cardstock.) We tried every setting the computer would allow. Turns out we had to print the info on paper, put it in the scanner and make a copy. How would I know that??? Sheer luck!

And for all the wonderful comments about my new watermark, give all kudos to Jeryn who made it for me. Figuring out how to actually get it on there was the miracle which I hope to duplicate on Saturday. I was also directed to a couple good tutorials on defining a brush, and using a brush.

Have a fabulous rest of the week, and I'll be sure to see you back here Saturday for the Unscripted Sketches World Card Making Day Blog Hop! (That's a mouthful!)

Sketch It Saturday

It is Saturday and I'm doing a happy dance. Not only do I have the morning off to relax a bit, but I've got my Unscripted Sketch and had time to play in Photoshop with my new Unscripted watermark. Thanks Jeryn!

While I had time to play with the watermark I haven't had time to figure Photoshop out otherwise, but I'm looking forward to some much better pictures in the future. I've just got to find the time....story of my life. Be sure to check out the rest of the DT's amazing creations and then head over to Unscripted to play along too!

LOVE

Oh how I've missed creating. This is one of the first times I've even turned my computer on all week and I had a few sweet comments that inspired me to share quickly!

This is a card I created a couple weeks ago for a friend's wedding. I was planning on incorporating a piece of their invitation but my DH had conveniently moved it and I couldn't find it before we had to leave! Turns out the bridesmaids wore black so I was along the right theme anyway. I did have a sketch in mind when doing it but that challenge has since passed, as has my knowledge of which one.

School has been good but I forgot how busy September keeps me! I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I have zero plans after school. I'll definitely be back for Unscripted Sketches on Saturday and hope to stop by your blog and leave some love!

Taking a break

I thought this weekend would never arrive!!! Of course because of my crazy week I'm also taking a break from this week's Unscripted Sketch. Check out what the rest of the DT has cooked up for you and go play along with us....I hope that I can too! I have made a promise to myself to create something this weekend and this week so I'll be back.

Happy Birthday Heroes!

Has the party started yet? I've combined this week's Unscripted Sketch with a birthday card for Cards for Heroes. They are having a big party this weekend to celebrate some big news. So I made a card to send to a hero...

Using up scraps to clean up my table I was able to put this together quickly. With school taking most of my time up that was necessary!!! Rather than just sending this blank card with the many that I'm packing up today, I'll write this one out so a hero gets something special on his or her birthday. Last year I complained about having to work on my birthday (It normally falls on vacation--it was a first for me) but these heroes may be a world away from their family and working hard despite a birthday.

So head on over to Unscripted Sketches and get some more great inspiration from the DT. Then maybe you can make a card for a hero too!

Yipee!!!

Wow, how lucky was I to come home yesterday and have Mr. Brown deliver these goodies???

The best think about this delivery was that I hadn't ordered anything and couldn't figure out why he was coming to the door! My aunt in NM is the only other stamper in the family and I always admire her cards and creations. Some of the things she sent my mother and I over the past few years really got me inspired and back into card making because they were so beautiful. Well, my aunt called out of the blue a couple weeks ago to tell me she was going to a make&take and thought I'd enjoy my own kit. She stamped/punched all the necessary pieces and sent it along for me to create. I forgot (as I'm prone to do in September) and couldn't believe the package I opened. Don't you love that SU canvas bag? As I make each project I'll be sure to share...based on the catalogue included her demo is Eva Davalos, who I googled to give credit but with no luck. I found many references to cards by Eva, but if you know her or a website let me know and I'll link it up!

Christmas in the Heart

Three day weekends are the best! I finally felt my sore throat disappear Monday morning and fit in some time to create amid school prep, R&R, and yard work. Good thing Monday also mean Mojo Monday!
I'm still trying to get my 25 Christmas cards made for Cards for Heroes, nevermind the fact that I need to figure out what I'll send for a card this year. I enjoyed this sketch and had fun with a new stamp from the $1 bin at Michael's. Love those mini Studio G packs! I'm exhausted from my day at school and wish I could get a picture that would do the card justice. The sentiment panel is popped up on dimensionals and really 'speaks.' Off to prep for tomorrow...glad I could share today...

Unscripted Anniversary

I thought Saturday would NEVER arrive! But here it is and here's my Unscripted Sketch for the week....

This is for my best friend who got married a year ago in October. I made her invitations for her (a fall theme) and the green panel is very similar to the style of the invitations. If I can find it I'll post it later this week.

So head on over to Unscripted Sketches to see the sketch, and check out what all the rest of the amazing DT have in store for you by clicking on their names on the right.

If you haven't already, check out the NICE post below and continue along the hop...there's a ton of blog candy along the way!!!

Just Because We're NICE Scrapper's Blog Hop

Welcome to a fun blog hop...just because we're nice!!! It's been a long first week of school for me, and I know the 7 other teachers on my 1st grade team will surely agree. I'm usually one of the first ones into work each morning (I like it in the am because it's quiet and my head is clear) so I threw together a little surprise to leave on everyone's desk. TGIF!

(Just my little way of being a FRED!)
Did you know there's a clearance rack at Staples?!?!? What a great discovery, because when I stumbled up on it I found a huge back of fun clips for $5!!! If I plan on being organized and spreading cheer, it may as well be a colorful endeavor. Here's the bunch for everyone, which I threw together with scraps once I tracked down some bags.

If you haven't already checked out Operation NICE be sure to head there after you hop to the next NICE stop....LaiLani.
