Unscripted New Years Blog Hop

If you arrived here from Beth's blog you're in the right place, if not, just click on the banner to head to the top of the hop!

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm....in getting ready for this hop I looked back at my first post of 2009 (only my third post ever) and saw I made a resolution, sorta.....

I'm bad at resolutions...I say I'll be a more regular gym go-er each December and never get there. This year I started that fad a month early and managed to get to the gym TEN TIMES! So now that 2009 is here, I got my craft area cleaned up earlier this week and I hope to spend at least once a week creating. Which also means at least once a week sharing something here!

Well as far as crafting goes I'd say I did alright. I never even DREAMED I'd be joining a design team and am thrilled with that accomplishment. This year I need to work on the organization, both with crafts and the house. But they go hand in hand! As for 2010 I'd like to submit work for publication this year. I'm not setting my hopes so high as to be published but I'll test the waters at least. I also want to get back into scrapbooking and do something with all the pictures I have taken with the intention of scrapping them. I think I'll start with my honeymoon....from 4 1/2 years ago!

The gym I did well too....until April when my ipod was stolen out of my car the ONE NIGHT I left it unlocked. Oops! I can say I haven't been in at least three months and that will change today. My MIL got me a new ipod for Christmas and I immediately loaded it up with songs so I can get back into the groove. So getting back in shape is a 2010 (and on) goal.

I'm also a huge procrastinator, which needs to change. It's in my dna (thanks Dad) but I can try to fight it. I have so many fun projects I do and make for people, and even though the idea is there for awhile I don't actually put it together until the last minute. And sometimes it doesn't get done because of that! I'm not sure how to attack that one, perhaps it comes with the organization!

Now for some candy. In being a procrastinator, I don't have a picture of my blog candy ready for you. Just trust me. I'm hoping a list or two will keep me organized and maybe it will work for you too....so that's the candy, a fun list like I made here and here. And maybe something else. You'll have to see. To enter just leave me a comment with 2 things:

1.) something you're trying to do in 2010

2.) any idea to keep me organized (keeping track of challenges, organized craft area, whatever!)

Now if you've stuck with me through my ramblings head on over to Hollie's blog to continue on the hop, and be sure to stop back next week for our first Unscripted Sketch of 2010 (And the winner of the candy)!

Smiles,

  1. Getting back in shape is definitely one of my goals too! After turning about 23 it just went all downhill... :(
Oh well. To keep organized...hmmmm... I need to know how to do that myself. lol
For challenges though I keep a notebook of the sketches and jot down a few others that I think I may use (you know, ones like chipboard, ribbon, certain colors, etc.) and that way I can plan my out my LO by using that list. That way I can fit as many challenges as I can into one project. :)
Anyway, Have a great New Year, Caryl! I have enjoyed working with you on US!
    Hugs,
    Hollie

  2. Great goals for the new year. I too never dreamed of the opportunities I would find by blogging when I started in June. I plan to keep going, to spend as much time as I can (after family, friends, housework, etc...) crafting. I plan to possibly open an etsy store to sell my creations. As far as organization goes, I need as much help as I can get also.

  3. I also need to get in shape, we want to start trying for our second child this time next year and lets just say that my first pregnancy was HORRIFIC and leave it at that. I have gained about 30 pounds that have to come off SOON!

As for organizing, I LOVE TO DO IT! LOL! For challenges how about making a calendar type journal and writing in there each week which ones you want to to, even if they are late! Hope that helps!

  5. Happy New Years
first I want to get rid of the 5 pounds I put on over the holiday and keep up with my fitness regiment (which I have been really good with)
Secondly - ok a tip on your floss -- get the floss cards (from craft stores) together with three different sized of metal rings - one large and several mid size and then some smaller even and use them to wrap your floss on - put them on larger rings in color order and then place on the larger rings and hang on hooks conveniently - saves alot of space and makes the colors easy to find

  7. I don't make resolutions because it is too easy to fail and feel badly. So, I just take each day and try to do my best...if it doesn't turn out the way I'd like...I try again tomorrow.
It's been a pleasure playing with you this year. I wish you a happy, peaceful and healthy 2010. Hugs,

  8. I am trying to work more out of my box this year and I will see where it takes me.

Now for organizing. I find if I see it I use it, so I try to hang things and put them at my reach

  9. Great list of achievements and goals. My main one is to lose weight this year. I started well last year and it all went to pot in the last few months! As far as getting organised goes, I have a wonderful craft bin/bucket on my desk that has all the things I need immediately to hand. I can highly reccommend it.

  11. One of my goals for this year is to get more layouts done and complete more challenges.

For organizing, I am going to try to keep a journal of all of the challenges so I will have them and hopefully complete them!

  12. I LOVE that picture of you!!! You are an awesome person. Take care.

  13. I want to just generally be healthier in 2010....exercising, eating better, taking vitamins, etc.

My biggest organizing tip is to GET RID of what you don't use. If you haven't used it in 6 months to a year....you most likely won't. Gift it to a place that will...like as school, children's hospital, church, etc.

    Happy New Year!

  17. I agree that resolutions are pointless as far as I'm concerned. You have to figure out what works for you and go with it! Good luck getting in shape- that's one of my goals, too! Happy New Year!!!

  19. Hi Caryl! Happy New Year! I love the hat. I am with you on the Hershey's chocolate. Not my favorite. I love dark chocolate. Godiva dark with raspberry is my favorite right now.
There are so many things I should do for the new year but maybe I should stop "Shoulding on Me" then maybe I would do some of the things I need to do.
For organizing I like drawers that you can put stuff in and shut so you don't see a mess. The important part is to label each drawer and keep just that stuff in that drawer.
Here is my favorite scrapbook room

  20. 2010 will be my year to declutter & I'm also in need of ideas :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I need to work on scrapbooking more. I've really hit a bad slump that I'm struggling to overcome this year!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Happy New Year! I for one plan on going back to the gym (after a 6 month hiatus!) to lose 20 lbs. I also need to scrap more, blog less (yeah, right!). As far as organizing...if you have loose ribbon, create ribbon cards (similar to those small embroidery floss cards) and wrap your ribbon around them and tape or pin. I put about 5 types of ribbon to a card that's the size of an index card. I store all my cards in an old basket that was home to a Pyrex casserole dish (9 x 13). Repurposing--another goal! Sorry this is long--whew!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hmm...if I were one to set resolutions (which I am not because I won't remember them in a week anyway) I would say lose weight and scrapbook. I have neglected both for most of 2009.

If you could see my craft area you would certainly think it insane to take any organization advice from me! lol

Happy New Year and best of luck with your goals!

    ReplyDelete
  24. girl!!!! you are GORGEOUS!!!!! it's soooo nice to see you! now THAT's a fabulous gift for me!!!!!

    1) i plan on trying very hard to lose 50 lbs this year. i've made that promise over the past yrs and NOTHING! this year, i need to do it.

    2) i'm very organized so if you need help, just ask. a hanging shoe bag is great for punches; binders & page sleeves (labeled) are great for digi stamps; empty SU boxes are great for ribbons. oh GF, i've got tons!

    2) Create more and try more NEW techniques.

  29. Sounds like you have a good plan for the new year.

I don't have any real resolutions right now. I'm kind of just living day to day until I start feeling better. I'm still dealing with the lyme's disease and it's keeping me from doing much of anything. And I don't want to make any plans I can't live up to until I know I can do them.

But I do hope to get all the craft stuff I purged last year either donated or sold on ebay to finally get it out of my house and make room to get my craft room organization done.

The best organization tip I have is to find a place for things and always put them back in their place so you don't wast time looking for them. I have all my drawers organized and labeled by theme/ tool type/ color and I have a peg board in front of my desk where I keep all the tools I use every time I craft (paper cutter, rulers, scissors) and I make an effort to put them away after each session. It's the scraps of paper and unfinished projects that are my problem and create the piles on my desk.
