Pink and Brown

I just came across this card I had made for Stampin' Out Alzheimers. If I recall correctly it was for a Gina K sketch challenge and a Taylored Expressions 2 by 2 challenge--2 colors, and 2 embellisments. The colors pink and brown were chosen and I used ribbon and pink halfback pearls as my embellishments.

I should be on my way home from the Cape soon. Besides insanity as the school year winds down, I've got calm in the weeks to come with a few weekends with nothing to do but craft in my future.

Mom, don't show Dad!!!!

Here's another card I made for a Stampin' Out Alzheimers challenge, though I don't remember which one. I made it, took a picture, and just never got to posting it. So many challenges, so little time.



As my title implies, this will be my Dad's Father's Day card. I'm pretty sure he doesn't check out the blog unless my mom shows him something so I think she'll follow instructions here.

This sentiment is so true of my father. He's always going the extra mile to help people (not just his kids) and taught me so much growing up. I'd rather not do it, but if needed I could change my oil, change a tire, even put new brakes on the car (with a bit of help) if needed.

Speaking of my mom and dad they'll be celebrating their 34th anniversary on the 29th. Also celebrating a wedding anniversary on the 29th is Roberta of Prairie Fairy who has some blog candy HERE for the occassion. My grandparents were also married on June 29th so it must be a good day for marriage.

Cheers for Unscripted Sketches!

Happy Saturday everyone, which means it's time for another Unscripted Sketch! In a time crunch this week I grabbed an empty Altoid tin and discovered that small projects come together quickly....at least with this fabulous sketch it did!

The tin and ribbon caught my eye amid my craft mess, so choosing the other colors was a no brainer. I'll need to be eating many more Altoids to create more of these....or looking for people who already have them on a regular basis. Like I told the rest of the Unscripted DT, either way it will be a quick creation and super minty breath!

I loved this sketch and my gift card holder so much that I had to make a matching card to go with it. On this card I used 3 buttons because of the Button, Button challenge over at Stampin' Out Alzheimers, a fundraiser near and dear to my heart.

Celebration!

I've got another card to share tonight, that I made for a challenge at Stampin' Out Alzheimers. Linda asked me if I make a card everyday, and when I sleep. This week I'm working on making a card every night but I know I won't keep up with that! I am giving myself a bit of a time limit in creating so I can spend time with DH. There are just so many great challenges to work on and like Cinderella at the ball it will end at midnight on May 31st...so I'm working hard to do as many as I can. It's all for a great cause and a whole lot of fun!



Anyway, the sketch is from Taylored Expressions and the colors are this week's Jewelry Color Inspiration from Stacey: Real Red, Whisper White and Brilliant Blue. Here's my card:

I can't wait until the rain stops! My picture will look much better outside in the daylight....of course I'd need to finish my card the night before I want to post it!

It would've made a wonderful masculine birthday card if I hadn't put the bow on it. But all the ribbon I used was found ribbon and the bow was already tied. So it nicely hid where my other ribbon began and ended! Now I'm off to watch a bit of the basketball game and to bed by 10...I do make sure I get almost 8 hours of sleep each night. I can't survive otherwise, and I'm jealous of those who can!

I don't know why I haven't played along with more Verve sketches, Julee has a great eye for design and I love all my cards I make with her sketches. I found the ribbon and ran with it. It came off an invitation to a wedding shower last year--the girl's dresses were pink and they wore green shoes, or the other way around. I went to the shower, but didn't make it to the wedding! And I managed to find a green to match in my pile of unknowns. How fun! Off to watch the Yankees a bit before bed...g'night!

Hope is.....mojo

I love Mojo Monday and somehow didn't play yesterday even though I had it off!!! I was too busy finishing the Cards for Heroes bloghop and checking out the Stampin' Out Alzheimers awesome site. There are tons of challenges, contests and giveaways, including this Mojo sketch. I joined in because of my grandparents--I'm lucky enough to have memories of them from an early age but my younger cousins aren't as lucky. Anyway, this evening I had a chance to head to my basement and work on it. I morphed the sketch a bit, but basically stuck with the inspiration.

This also is for this week's Our Creative Corner Challenge to have the sentiment as the focal point. I love this quote from Emily Dickinson, and haven't inked up the set in awhile. Susan used it recently HERE and inspired me to dig it out. I'll try to use the images soon, the quote just jumped out at me for this particular sketch.
