Happy Haunting!

Happy Halloween! While today's Unscripted Sketch is not a spooky one at all I had to do something for Halloween since it is today after all. There were all the pieces of a halloween box in this fab make and take kit my aunt sent me. In putting it together I couldn't follow directions exactly...after all I'm part of a DT that encourages everyone to flip it, rotate it and make it there own. Which I did!

(All supplies SU!)

Too bad I don't have anymore of that candy corn, it's my favorite! I guess I'll have to hit the sales tomorrow, or raid my nephew's trick-or-treat bag tonight.

Be sure to check out all the DT's fabulous work on this one, and go over to give Aymee some love on her last day on the Unscripted Sketches team. We love you Aymee!!! Then get out some supplies and play along...most of you do have an extra hour this weekend after all!

5 things I would rather be doing right now

1. Sleeping: I know you west coast people may like the world series, but wouldn't you like it to start earlier so you can watch something else after?

2. Making cards, gifts, or anything really: Oh how I miss my creative time......

3. Watch some shows and movies on my DVR. DVR is the best invention since sliced bread. (I stole Jeryn's #3....how can I say it better?)

4. Watching the game with someone...sports aren't as exciting when you're along. Get home honey!

5. Hanging with the two cutest guys I know, my nephews! Granted they're in bed now, but if they're asleep I can be too. (See #1)

Name 5 things YOU would rather be doing right now.....

For the Bride

Oh how fun to play with paper and share during the week! I was inspired on Sunday night by Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, which was just what I needed to put together the pieces of this invitation.

A great friend I work with (and made invitations for) is getting married in December, but doesn't have family or bridesmaids living in the state to throw her a shower. Together with my fellow first grade teachers we've come up with a small guest list (because I have a small house and smaller budget) to shower her with well wishes for the upcoming nuptials.

The theme is snowflakes (it is after all winter in NH) and her colors are navy and white, but the bridesmaids will have a lilac colored sash to match the flowers. It's a surprise so I hope she likes it, and I hope you do too!

What in the world....

...happened to my craft area????

Oh ya, I haven't sat down there in at least a month, I just grab stuff to go, drop stuff off and chaos ensues. I've taken a bit of time to clean it up, but it's not looking pretty yet.

That and it's in my cave of a basement (unfinished, and not especially heated now that we have a new furnace) so it isn't ideal. I want a space like Sarah's!

Enough whining though....I don't have anything of my own to share (except a mess) but you should check out Hollie's project over at Sketchy Thursday. I <3 Captain Jack Sparrow and I know you'll love her layout. You can vote for your favorite tonight and tomorrow, and you already know which one is my favorite!

I should have a card to share this week, so I'm off to work on it with hopes of the mojo flowing.

Just a Note

Hooray for Saturdays!! Yes, it means I'm up early and off to work at the store, but I get to sleep in a bit later than on school days and it's also time for a sketch from Unscripted Sketches. This week I was completely stumped until a coworker gave me the best little book of post-its:

Her fiance is an admissions counselor for a nearby college, and these are freebies for high school guidance departments (shhhh, don't tell!). The front obviously had the college's name but I fixed that with this week's Unscripted sketch:

The silver elastic cording is anchored into the back of the book to keep it closed and protect those precious notes when it's in my bag.

Be sure to check out the sketch and see all the rest of the DT's fabulous work. I can't wait to see all the creativity flowing with this one, so head on over to play along!!!!

Baptized with blessings

Today is my nephew's baptism. DH and I are his older brother's godparents and even though we aren't godparents again (I have to give my SIL's family a turn!) I'm so excited to share in this day with them. Besides, his godparents live across the country so I have a feeling we'll play a big role in his life anyway.

For my card I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch. The picture does not do the card justice--that's what I get for taking pictures in the 12th inning of baseball when I should be sleeping! I didn't upload pics until I already sealed the envelope and no amount of photoshop could fix it, so it is what it is. My favorite piece of this is the cross charm. It was on the invitations to the baptism, so I untied that ribbon and put it on here. I created the sentiment on the computer--a saying on a frame I was checking in at work this week.

Hoping this baseball game will be ending soon.......hope you have a great Sunday!

Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine

It's a cold morning here in NH, perfect for a snowy Unscripted Sketches card:

I should've shared it yesterday....there was SNOW falling when I woke up. Nothing sticking, just falling! I love this week's sketch, it will be a go-to for me and perhaps used for some mass production of Christmas cards. Head over to Unscriped Sketches to see the sketch (which I turned on its side) and all the rest of the amazing DT's work. Can't wait to see what you create!

I'm headed to watch my nephew be a water bug at the Y for swim lessons...at least it will be warm in there!

Simple Things

Happy Columbus Day weekend to all my friends in the USA! (And if I remember correctly, Happy Thanksgiving to Canada!) A long weekend means extra time to play with paper so why not try this week's Unscripted Sketch out?

I had fun with this sketch and turned it into a z-fold card thanks to some inspiration from Terri's card here. I stuck a white panel inside so I have somewhere to write a message. I'm off to work for the morning but then I'll be back to see what great cards are out there. Check out the rest of the Unscripted DT's amazing work and hope to see your creations too!

Fit for a Princess

Yesterday I scheduled time in my afternoon to play with some ink and make a card. As soon as I saw this week's Mojo Monday sketch I knew just what I wanted to do...that never happens!

I picked up a cute castle stamp just for Izzy but it wasn't perfect for a princess. I stamped it three times on Bashful Blue, snipped each piece out and layered it to make it a bit like Cinderella's castle. The pink circle is embossed with my Birds and Swirls cuttlebug embossing folder---it reminds me of Disney's Cinderella when the birds help her. And what's a princess without pearls?

So Happy Birthday Izzy, you deserve a magical one!!!

World Card Making Day blog hop

Welcome to the Unscripted Sketches blog hop for World Card Making Day! You should have arrived here from Beth. There's lots of cards and candy along the way, so start at the top of the hop by clicking on the banner above.

A few weeks ago I missed out on this Unscripted sketch so today is my chance to play catch up. Of course I've had Let it Snow stuck in my head ever since!
I went a little brad crazy on this one, but it was nice to use up a scrap of ribbon (from xmas cards made with my mom 5+ years ago) and the snowman face that I pulled off a peppermint patty a few years ago. I knew I'd use them someday!

With school, work at my second job, and being on the negotiation team with my teacher's union I've had little to no time for making cards. A few weeks ago I created an assembly line in a basket with a simple layout and a fun stamp set given to me by a coworker at my last school. So now at night when I'm relaxing on the couch I can put together 6-10 cards like the one below. It's also a great chance to use up scraps of ribbon for the bow.

I found the sentiment at Michael's recently. They had an endcap full of clear stamps, sold individually, each for $1.49. What a deal! All of the cards I made like this are headed overseas thanks to Operation Write Home (formerly Cards for Heroes). Leave a comment here with some love and I'll pick a winner (US only please--Edited to say: Okay, I'll send anywhere, it is WORLD card making day after all!) to get some fun card making candy...I'll pick the winner sometime after 6pm Sunday evening. If you're a follower I'll enter your name TWICE!

Now head on over to Dawn to continue on the hop. Hope you find time to make some cards today, and think about sending a few to our heroes too!
